The deflation of Kendari City in April 2018 was 0.16 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 125.78. Nationally from 82 cities that calculate inflation twenty-eight cities recorded deflation and fifty-four cities recorded inflation. The highest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku Province) 2.26 percent and the lowest deflation recorded in Medan (Province of North Sumatra), Bandar Lampung (Lampung Province) and Tegal (Central Java Province) 0.01 percent respectively. The highest inflation was recorded in Merauke (Papua Province) 1.32 percent.

The deflation in Kendari was recorded as a result of the decline in the food price index by 1.21 percent. The highest deflation was recorded in Pare-Pare (South Sulawesi Province) 0.34 percent with CPI 126.44. While the lowest deflation was recorded in Gorontalo (Gorontalo Province) 0.12 percent with HK 127.14.
