Abstract

The deflation of Kendari City in April 2018 was 0.16 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 125.78. Nationally from 82 cities that calculate inflation twenty-eight cities recorded deflation and fifty-four cities recorded inflation. The highest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku Province) 2.26 percent and the lowest deflation recorded in Medan (Province of North Sumatra), Bandar Lampung (Lampung Province) and Tegal (Central Java Province) 0.01 percent respectively. The highest inflation was recorded in Merauke (Papua Province) 1.32 percent.
  • The deflation in Kendari was recorded as a result of the decline in the food price index by 1.21 percent. While the group recorded inflation is the clothing group 0.57 percent; finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.39 percent; health 0.37 percent; transportation, communications and financial services 0.16 percent and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.04 percent. While the education, recreation, and sports groups have not changed / relatively stable.
  • Commodities that contribute the largest deflation are bloating / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso; rambe; kite / bengkol; yellow tail; Kale; long beans; mustard greens; rice; spinach and banana heart.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation are onion; garlic; fuel; white cigarette; clove cigarette filter; gold jewelry; men's jeans trousers; Cayenne pepper; tomato fruit and shampoo.
  • Of the eleven cities on the island of Sulawesi, four cities recorded deflation and seven cities of inflation. The highest deflation was recorded in Pare-Pare (South Sulawesi Province) 0.34 percent with CPI 126.44. While the lowest deflation was recorded in Gorontalo (Gorontalo Province) 0.12 percent with HK 127.14.
  • The inflation rate of Kendari City in the calendar year (January-April 2018) is 0.40 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2018 to April 2017) is 2.34 percent.
  • The inflation rate of the same period of calendar year (JanuaryApril 2017) is 1.00 percent and the inflation rate year on year (April 2017 to April 2016) was recorded at 2.91 percent.
